Rideau Lakes is a township in eastern Ontario covering a large area around the Lower Rideau, Big Rideau, and Upper Rideau Lakes. The Rideau Lakes area includes many smaller communities like Delta, Elgin, Portland, and Newboro.
The larger town of Smiths Falls sits just beyond Rideau Lakes at its northeastern edge, on the banks of the Rideau River. At the western edge of Upper Rideau Lake is the community of Westport. Although surrounded on all sides by Rideau Lakes township, Westport is an independent municipality.

Central Rideau Lakes is accessible from Kingston to the southwest in around 40 minutes. Ottawa is approximately an hour away to the northeast.
