The largest communities in South Frontenac are:

  • Portland (not to be confused with the town in nearby Rideau Lakes)

Each of these towns represents a separate district of South Frontenac. The main routes through South Frontenac are Route 10 (Perth Road) running through the centre from south to north, Road 38 heading the same direction through the western portion of the township, Route 11 (AKA Battersea Road) running northeast through the eastern portion of South Frontenac towards Rideau Lakes.

  • The Holleford crater - A prehistoric meteor crater approximately 2 km in diameter. There is a plaque marking its location off Holleford road northeast of Harrowsmith and Hartington.
